China Travel Eastern Airlines Releases 2008 Annual Results

China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited has released its 2008 annual report which shows a net loss of nearly CNY14 billion for China Travel.

The operating income of 2008 was CNY41.842 billion, representing a decrease of 3.9% over 2007, with net loss CNY13.928 billion. The airline's total liabilities reached CNY84.249 billion, of which current liabilities were CNY54.076 billion, an increase of CNY18.200 billion over the previous year; non-current liabilities were CNY30.120 billion, an increase of CNY2,700 million China Travel.

The international air transport market has shrunken due to the global financial crisis, inflicting heavy losses on the company's international business. Domestic market also suffered in the fierce competition caused by the impact of serious natural disasters, emergencies and the financial crisis.

Earlier China Eastern Airlines has signed a development finance agreement with China Development Bank, under which CDB will offer CNY30 billion to China Eastern as financing.

The Case Of Two CITS Closed In Shanghai China Travel

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has published a notice concerning the expansion of Spring Airlines's business scope making it the first private airline company in China to obtain traffic rights to Hong Kong and Macau China Travel.

After 13 years of effort, Quanzhou Jinjiang Airport in Fujian province has open approval from the Chinese State Council.

The airport began to apply to open in 1996, and has temporarily opened several times. The opening of the airport will promote the cross-Strait economic and trade cooperation and exchange, and bring more opportunities to Quanzhou city.

The notice said that Spring Airlines' application to expand its business scope has already passed the primary examination of CAAC East China Regional Administration.

Its business scope will expand from domestic air passenger and cargo transport to passenger and cargo transport services for domestic (including Hong Kong and Macau), Shanghai or other designated areas to neighboring countries.

It is also learned that the company will launch a route from Wuhan to Sanya for the coming Labor Day holiday on May 1.

Shanghai Plans To Lower Hotel Operation

The Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration is consulting with the relevant departments to try to lower the operation costs of star-rated hotels in Shanghai to cope with the impacts of the global financial crisis.

At a symposium for expatriates in Shanghai's tourism sector, Dao Shuming, the administrator of the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, revealed that public utilities fees, cable TV fees, and satellite TV fees might be included in the measures to lower hotels' costs China Travel.

According to Dao the issues of electricity charges and cable TV fees have already been solved after consultation with relevant departments. Fraser Suites Enters Suzhou's Highest Building

Frasers Hospitality Pte Ltd. has signed an agreement with SPG Land, the developer of Global 188 Tower in Suzhou Industrial Park, for the management of Frasers Suites Suzhou Serviced Apartment, making it Frasers' thirteenth property in China Travel.

The 282-meter-high Suzhou Global 188 Tower is a mixed-use property with a construction area of 180,000 square meters, including 49 stories of serviced apartments and 46 stories of composite office.

The complex will be composed of a commercial center, serviced apartments, an office building, and a clubhouse. The apartments are expected to be finished by May 2009, while the whole building will be completed in 2010 in China Travel.

Ramada To Open Its Largest Hotel In China

Wyndham Hotel group has just announced two new Ramada hotels in China: the world's largest Ramada hotel, the 1,000-room Ramada Hotel & Suites Boao in Hainan province, and the 548-room Ramada Huangshan in Anhui province.

Currently under development on Hainan Island just off the south coast of mainland China, the upscale, 24-story Ramada Hotel & Suites property is expected to open in December 2010. The hotel is being developed by Hainan Baolian City (Boao) Company, a subsidiary of the Shanghai Baolian Real Estate Company, which is also developing the 337-room Shanghai Wyndham Baolian.

The new hotel will feature oversized rooms and suites, three full-service restaurants, a lobby bar, 1,150 square meters of meeting space, a swimming pool, gym and other recreational facilities.

The hotel is part of a larger plan by the developer to transform more than two square kilometers of the city's ocean front real-estate into an upscale resort destination that will feature multiple retail and entertainment spaces.

Owned and operated by Huangshan Xinhui Investment Company, the newly constructed eight-story Ramada Huangshan hotel is the Ramada brand's first hotel in Anhui province. Village Inn Appears In Dujiangyan

China's first chain village inns will open in May 2009 in Dujiangyan, Sichuan China Travel.
